Forgive Them

I wrote the lyrics to this song in 3 days. Initially, I was writing a song about Cliff Richard, and the trials he had to endure over the last two years or so. Yet I wanted to write about Jesus also. Parts of the song reflect Cliff’s story, other parts also reflect Jesus’s life. I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I have writing the music and lyrics.

Overcome the world

I wrote this from the perspective of Jesus. I felt that when I wrote  this, this is what  He wanted to say.

(I now record in my Church’s Parish Rooms. Hence the ‘Parish Room Sessions’ title at the beginning of the song.)

Kingdom Come

2016-05-27 21.37.44

I started writing again. Yay! A musician nicknamed ‘Blind Dog’ has inspired me, to write to his piece of piano music.

It’s a song about going against the grain. It’s about having a faith so strong, that you would stand alone for Jesus. Nothing or no one will sway you. In fact, it’s two pieces of poetry I wrote separately, that seem to go well together….but with many added extra lyrics. I’m three quarters of the way through, but, seem to be stuck there. Lets hope I finish it soon. Then I will share it. Onwards and upwards!

Him

Hymn

Enter His kingdom like a little child

With arms ever open and your eyes wide

Receive His blessing unto your soul now

His love shall come to you somehow

And if you stood before Him

Could you look Him in the eyes

Would you let His grace surround you

And promise Him your love won’t die

Would you sing His praises every day

And never question why

Would you give Him your light tonight

This is His way

Peace and love and truth

For this is the way of the good news

This is His way

Peace and love and truth

For this is the way of the good news

And if you stood before Him

Could you look Him in the eyes

Would you let His grace surround you

And promise Him your love won’t die

Would you sing His praises every day

And never question why

Would you give Him your light tonight

Enter His kingdom like a little child

With arms ever open and your eyes wide

Receive His blessing unto your soul now

His love shall always be with you

I wrote this song yesterday – I dedicate this Hymn to Prince Rogers Nelson.

Visionary

I thought I’d share with you a vision I received. I was lacking in spiritual writing and song, so, I asked the Holy Spirit to draw near, and give me something with which to write about. I quietened my spirit, closed my eyes and went into meditation.

“I saw from quite a way above. I was looking from the sky down to the land. I saw a beautiful part of a country. There were lots of trees, mountains and green green grass. Then I see an eagle flying, in a blue sky. I watch it fly for a while. I see a small white church, nestled in amongst the trees and countryside. The eagle then lands on the roof of this white church and waits.”

Again and again the same scene unfolds. And even when I opened my eyes, it remained in my mind.

These images are very similar to what I saw. I can’t say for sure but I am very drawn towards the U.S.A.   I have made a start on the lyrics that this vision has inspired:

“I see everything

I watch you from way above

Even in the wilderness

No faith is lost

Wherever you are

There I am

You rest on my word

My song is love”

It is said, ‘a picture paints a thousand words’. I will have to go back into the inspiration of the vision to finish the song.

Fly

I only had two words in my head, when I started to write this song, those two words were, “we can.” I had no idea where it was going to take me, or how the song was going to pan out. It was really hard to sing (so forgive the few bum notes, it is just in demo stage at the moment, and I’m still getting to know the feel of the song. I just couldn’t wait to get it out here!)  This one has a lot of different ranges vocally. As always, the lyrics are here:

Fly

Verse

Open your eyes now and you shall see

Follow your feet to the sound of His voice

And in time you’ll see yourself shine

You’ve got nothing to lose and much to gain

I can see heaven from here

Come, see all God has done for you

When, will you see the light?

For, that will be the day, you will say

Chorus

We, can touch the clouds and fly

Fly, fly miles high in His grace

We can live in peace this day

And we, we are loved by Him always

Let His light lead the way

For all our future days

Bridge

Sing a new song

Sing Him a new song

Stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up

Let our voices be strong

Stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up

And whatever may be

Trust in his ways and rise

Chorus

We, can touch the clouds and fly

Fly, fly miles high in his grace

We can live in peace one day

And we, we are loved by him always

Let his light lead the way

For all our future days

Thankyou for listening!

With Jesus

Hope you enjoy listening to this one, as much as I did writing and singing it.

With Jesus

There is a way to God’s land
To the place where all are free
Through Jesus Christ – through His Son
And He will guide me
I hear His voice calling me
So familiar to my ears
He knows my name – He never changed
He was right here all along

I’m safe and sound
I’ll rest in his strength

Jesus, my refuge away from the trials of this world
Where I know that I am loved
Jesus, my comfort, his light overcomes all evil
And I know whom I belong
To Jesus – it’s where I’m meant to be
With Jesus – to stay
With Jesus – where the love that follows me to be with Him
For where He is – I am loved

Calmness falls, my soul restores
With a knowing I’m with God
No judgments there, nor space for fear
Only peace within me now
I’m safe and sound I’ll rest in His strength

To Jesus – it’s where I’m meant to be
With Jesus – to stay
With Jesus – to the king where I am free to be me
In his love
To Jesus – it’s where I’m meant to be
With Jesus – to stay
With Jesus – where the love that follows me to be with Him
For where he is – I am loved

The Second Coming King

One of the only up-tempo-ish song I’ve written thus far! It’s one of my favourites. Has anyone dared to write a song about the Jesus yet to come, because I have never heard one? Apocolyptic in nature, but it’s ok, because Jesus will be there!

The Second Coming King

Verse 1
God send us our Saviour
Within these, the final days
Orchestrate Your will
And drive out the enemies
Shelter the redeemed
Protect Your people
Before the stars fall
And everything crumbles

Pre-Chorus
Our eyes are wide open
But only You can see
Through flaming fire to glory
The second coming King

Chorus
The fire’s in His eyes
So alive!
Coming with the clouds
On a white horse
With the name of Faithful
To call you to his side
In the midst of it all

Bridge
Nowhere to run
No place to be
It’s impossible to hide from Him
Nowhere to run
No place to be
It’s impossible to hide from Him

Chorus
The fire’s in His eyes
So alive!
Coming with the clouds
On a white horse
With the name of Faithful
To call you to His side
In the midst of it all

A guy named Gerhard covered the song too. I love it when people do that. It’s different to my original version, I really love it.

Hope you liked them both too.

Amen

I don’t know how I came up with the concept of this spoken song/hymn. Sometimes I write in the middle of the night, then I wake up and read what I’ve written. This was one of those nights!

Amen

Verse 1

You called me stand before you Lord

From a world that is dark and full of harm

I find in You my strength my future King

Your presence could never be far from me

And when I kneel to talk to You intimately

You lean in tight and hold me near

Chorus (Choir)

Amen

Amen

Amen

Verse 2

The moment I feel my spirit is touched

Anointed by the hand of God

And in my soul I know I’m changed

By the grace of Your untouchable ways

Accepted as a token of Your boundless love

I bear myself up before You Jesus

The Messiah’s Love

Messiah'sLove

Song writing. The physics of it, scribbled, ha! (It’s as if I got drip fed this song.) This song started with one verse. I then wrote the chorus, expanded the chorus…then added the second verse to the end of the first verse and wrote the bridge. The second verse was the very last thing I wrote. And then you get something like this, the finished version:

The Messiah’s Love

Verse 1

More than a man

Sings my soul

God in the flesh

Saviour Come

More than a king

Lord of all

Heaven sent

Holy one

Chorus

The Messiah’s love

Knows no bounds

Beautifully perfect

Deeply profound

He spreads His love

Wherever the wind blows

I can feel it in my bones

The Messiah’s love

Knows no bounds

Verse 2

More than a priest

Light divine

Sent by my God

To my life

More than love

So much more

I am His

I’m adored

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge

Come Lord

Come Lord

To me

Come Lord

Come Lord

Lay your love on me (x2)

(Repeat Chorus)
